I should probably introduce myself, or reintroduce myself, depending on how long you’ve been here and which version of my writing you stumbled across first.
I’m Chelsea Moye, and I write romance. A lot of different kinds of romance, honestly, because I have never once in my life been good at picking a lane and staying in it. (There’s a reason I’m usually a passenger princess, just ask my husband. 😂)
I write sweet, no spice Regency romance as Olivia Marwood. I write paranormal romance as C. J. Beaumont. I’ve also written cowboy romantic suspense and dark romance, and I’ve got a spicy rom-com in the works because apparently I don’t have enough going on. I may eventually write dark Regency romance as Scarlett Hastings, too, because I enjoy making things complicated for myself, I guess.
If you’re new here, that probably sounds like a lot. If you’ve been here a while, you already know it’s a lot. 💀
Here’s the thing, though. I’m a mood reader. Always have been. Sometimes I want something sweet. Sometimes I want something dark. Sometimes I want historical, sometimes paranormal, sometimes contemporary. Sometimes I want no spice at all and sometimes I want ALL the spice. I contain multitudes.
That’s also just how I write.
For a long time I tried to stuff all of that into roughly a bajillion different pen names and separate little corners of my author life. Some of that still makes sense. Olivia Marwood and C. J. Beaumont are staying because they serve a specific purpose and readers know what to expect from those names.
But I’m retiring several other pen names, for reasons that are a mix of practical, personal, and not things I’m going to get into publicly.
What I want is for Chelsea Moye Romance to be the place where everything connects back to me. Not because every book is the same, they are DEFINITELY not, but because I’m the person who wrote all of them.
I know that’s probably been confusing if you’ve followed me for any length of time. The pen names, the pivots, the different genres, the long silences, the books that dropped under one name while I was talking about something else entirely somewhere else. I get it. It’s been confusing from the inside, too, honestly.
I’m trying to make it less confusing going forward. I’m also trying to stop shrinking myself down just because it’d be easier to explain.
I like a lot of different kinds of romance. I write a lot of different kinds of romance. Some of my books are sweet. Some are dark. Some are funny. Some are witchy. Some are spicy as hell and some absolutely are not. But they’re all love stories, and they all came from me.
So if you’re new here, welcome. I’m really glad you found me.
If you’ve been here a while, thank you for sticking around while I figured out how to pull all of this together in a way that actually feels like myself.
And if you want to tell me which book, series, pen name, or random internet rabbit hole brought you here in the first place, I’d honestly love to know.
